Competency L
A confident claim about users is not the same thing as evidence for one. This statement looks at how to tell the two apart–choosing the right method for a question, designing a program before any data exists, and judging what a study can and can't support. It draws on descriptive and inferential statistics, qualitative content analysis, and mixed-methods integration, and it's built on an annotated bibliography of ten studies on library makerspaces and community hubs, a logic model for a grant-funded braille literacy program, and an analysis of real pre/post-assessment data from an assistive technology pilot.
